Rauris and the Raurisertal

The vilage of Rauris has about 3,200 inhabitants and is located at an altitude of 950 meters in the Pinzgau region of the Salzburg province. The more than 30 km long valley ends at the foot of the "Sonnblickgruppe", which is located in the heart of the Hohetauern National Park.

Rauris is also rich in history and one of the oldest settlements in the Eastern Alps. The idyllic Rauriser valley still offers a lot of unspoilt nature, but also a beautiful skiing area (climate neutral) and extensive hiking and mountain biking terrain.

… An excellent starting point for trips to particularly beautiful nature as well as cultural highlights. Absolute relaxation guaranteed!

But Rauris is also perfectly located for other activities. Zell am See and Kaprun, for example, are well-known holiday resorts nearby. The Ski Areas here are easily accessible from Rauris in about 25 minutes. Buses also run daily between Rauris, Bruck, Zell am See and Kaprun.

Zell am See and Kaprun are also interesting in summer. Here you will find ideal conditions for swimming, walking, sailing and cycling. Kaprun offers a ski area with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier at 3000 meters above sea level, as well as the impressive High Mountains reservoirs.

An absolute must is the Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße. The Großglockner is the highest mountain in Austria with its 3798 meters and at the same time also the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Großglockner and Pasterzen Glacier offer a particularly impressive high mountain panorama. Despite the massive melting down of the last decades, the Pasterze, with approximately 19 km2 surface and 9 kilometers in length, is still the largest glacier in the Eastern Alps.

Other options are: Stadt Salzburg, Wildpark Aurach / Ferleiten, Krimmler Waterfalls, Mittersill Castle or 'Burg Hohenwerfen' and much more ...

The Rauriser Hochalmbahnen are in operation in both summer and winter. In two stages from the valley, the gondola goes to just below 2,211 meters high Reiβrachkopf, the highest point of the skiing and hiking area and with breathtaking views.

In winter, a total of 10 lifts are active: 3 of which are gondola lifts, 1 chair lift and 6 drag lifts that together serve 33 kilometers of official slopes, a fun park and a 4 km long illuminated toboggan run.

In summer you can take the gondola of the Hochalmbahnen in just a few minutes to the "gold washing area" at the middle station or to the raptor show or water playground located at the mountain station. These stations are also the starting point of many hiking routes where you get a tour of the Goldberggruppe, Groβglockner, Niedere Tauern, Steinernes Meer, Hochkönig and Dachstein.

The lifts are of such a capacity that waiting times are a rarity.

Summer in Raurisertal

Enjoy a wonderful day in the (without doubt) most beautifully situated outdoor swimming pool of the Salzburgerland. The Rauriser "Sonnblick" swimmingpool is beautifully located, surrounded by greenery and with an impressive mountain panorama. The entire swimming pool is surrounded by a large sunbathing lawn. Both the 16 x 32-meter recreational pool and the children's pool are heated up to 24 ° C. There is a 51 m long slide, a children's playground, good cafeteria with terrace and of course a beautiful mountain panorama of the Hohetauern National Park.

In addition to endless laziness, enjoying the sun and swimming, you will also find many other relaxation options in Rauris. The hiking paradise on the Rauriser Hochalm offers more than just hiking. There is a spectacular bird of prey show, the traditional gold washing, barefoot path and a water playground. Adventure and fun for the complete family.

Winter in Raurisertal

The snowsecure Rauriser ski area with an elevation profile from 950 m to 2,175 m offers thirty-two slope kilometers including two valley runs, a fun slope, fun park, competition track, off-piste runs and a large children's ski meadow directly at the base station. A varied family friendly area with varied descents for both beginners and advanced. Comfortable modern gondolas and lifts and carefully groomed slopes invite for an adventurous skiing and snowboarding experience. In addition to the usual wide slopes, there are natural boarder crosses, many jumps and, above all, many super off-piste possibilities! The valley station is located directly at the village center and close to House Enzian and therefore everything is within walking distance.

There are also many different possibilities for winter hikers, cross-country skiers, toboggans and ski tour enthusiasts, directly from the village or in Kolm Saigurn at the end of the Rauriser valley.

Rauris ist einfach Echt!

A yoga vacation, personal training, retreat, mountain hike or any other sporty idea?

We can realize a tailor-made trip for every wish with family or company. With our knowledge of the area, we know the most beautiful places in the valley and we know the right people to offer a varied program for traveling with groups, organizations, associations, etc. We also make your trip special with sporting activities and time for relaxation.

More than 300 km of signposted hiking trails and climbing routes lead you through green alpine meadows, past thundering waterfalls and natural springs. There are many short walks for families that run up to multi-day trips for advanced skiers. Real gems are the Rauris primeval forest, the Kitzlochklamm, mighty glaciers and mountain peaks with wonderful views. In the "Valley of the Vultures", the Rauriser Krumltal, groups of vultures and eagles are circling in the air and they can - in addition to the chamois and marmots - be observed in the wild. Adventurers can look for fine gold pellets at the three gold washing sites  and test their gold fever.

Along the way during the mountain walks you can enjoy many homemade traditional products in the 30 mountain huts.

If you want to enjoy the best views without too much effort, take the Rauriser Hochalmbahn, one of "Austria's best summer cable cars" in 2019. The comfortable 6-person cable car will take you to a height of 1,800 m in a few minutes. From there you can enjoy fantastic walks, attend the birds of prey show at the Hochalmhut, play in the water playground and wash gold at the Heimalmhut.
